Where is Kusu Island Resort located?

Kusu Island is located in South Halmahera, Indonesia and is a tropical paradise for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. Kusu Island Resort is the most luxurious and exclusive dive and holiday resort in this region. We are in the heart of the Coral Triangle, which is recognized as the global centre of marine biodiversity, and the reefs surrounding Kusu Island are virtually untouched and bristling with marine life.

How to get to Kusu Island Resort?

Although Kusu Island is secluded and off the beaten track with no crowds, noise or traffic, it is easily accessible. You’re able to reach us by flight from Jakarta, Makassar and Manado, followed by a short relaxing boat ride to our resort. Here, your vacation will truly begin. The airport is only 1 hour away.

When is the best time to visit Kusu Island Resort?

Kusu Island is located near the equator and is therefore a year-round destination.

Daytime temperatures are around 30°C (86°F) and water temperatures average 28°C (82°C). Weather and sea conditions are fairly constant throughout the year with a wet season in the months of November to March. 

What activities do you offer?

Besides diving, we offer a wide variety of activities like snorkelling, kayaking, bird-watching and wellness.

How many Ocean Villas do you have?

On the palm-fringed beach are 8 luxurious and handcrafted Ocean Villas. With 72-square-meter villas and built on stilts over the ocean they offer an open living‐ and sleeping space, a Balinese-style open air bathroom and a very spacious deck with your very own access to the sea.

Do you have a doctor onsite?

We don’t have a doctor on the island, but we have a nurse. The next doctor is situated in the hospital of Labuha.

Do I need a visa to enter Indonesia?

Yes. Entry into Indonesia is free with a visa-on-arrival for most countries for 30 days.

Is any prophylaxes required?

We don’t have many mosquitoes and a prophylaxes is not mandatory. However, it is advisable to have the normal travel medication with you. Please also check with the appropriate authorities in your country. There is a mosquito net in every Ocean Villa as well as repellents.

What kind of food do you offer?

International and Asian cuisine without pork. We also pay attention to special diets and food intolerances.

What kind of dive sites do you have?

The seascape offers walls, slopes, caverns, caves, overhangs, sea grass beds, underwater pinnacles and macro dive sites.

For which divers are your divesites suitable?

Experienced divers can enjoy adrenaline-filled drift dives, while relaxing dives on coral gardens teeming with reef fish are for all divers to appreciate. This underwater heaven is a paradise for underwater photographers, videographers and snorkelers. 

Do you teach dive courses?

Dive Courses are available on request. To ensure our dive instructors are available, please inform us at time of booking which course you would like to take.

Do you have rental dive gear available?

A limited amount of snorkelling and diving rental equipment is available. Kindly reserve the required equipment at time of booking.
